Eye Disease Detection

Dilated Retinal Examinations:  Dilated retinal exams are essential to offer the most comprehensive view of the inside of your eye.  Many eye conditions cannot be adequately identified and monitored without the use of dilating drops.

Automated Visual Field Test:  Visual field testing assesses your peripheral vision and can be used to monitor for glaucoma and test for neurological disease.  It also enables your optometrist to determine if you meet the peripheral vision requirements for your driver’s license as required by the Ministry of Transportation.

Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT):  Lakefield  VisionCare has a Maestro OCT to provide leading technology for exceptional patient care.  Not only does this instrument provide fundus (retinal) photography, it also provides optic disc analysis and 3D macula analysis.  The OCT assists the doctors to accurately diagnosis and monitor conditions such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, high blood pressure damage, diabetic retinopathy, epiretinal membranes, cystoid macular edema to name a few.  The OCT is a permanent record of your current eye health, which is reviewed by your optometrist at each of your eye exams.
